Before your contract with SingNet is due to expire, SingNet will send a reminder notice via email to the listed contact for your domain name. When your contract with SingNet expires, we will automatically renew your domain name at SGNIC. Should you decide not to renew your domain name, please send us an official termination letter at least 30 days in advance.
- Why does SingNet implement domain auto-renewals?
Previously, our customers have experienced problems such as their website being inaccessible to the public, or disruption in email delivery when their domain name gets suspended. With domain auto-renewals, such disruption will be minimized.
- I made a mistake while registering my domain "abc.com.sg". I want to change it to "abcd.com.sg". How do I go about doing that?
Domain names, once registered successfully at SGNIC, cannot be changed. You would need to submit a termination request to delete the old domain name and re-apply for a new one. The charges incurred for the registration of the old domain name at SGNIC still apply.

Thus they are given priority over other applicants.
- Why are ‘gov.sg’ domain name holders given the priority of registering second-level ‘.sg’ domain name?
Government bodies and departments are charged with the functions of providing services to the public which include individuals, non-profit organizations and the business community. There is a need to ensure that the information provided by these government agencies is accessible through the widest possible means i.e. at both 3rd and 2nd levels. There is also a need to prevent abuse of government website names by others who register such names at the 2nd level to pass of as government websites to confuse or mislead the public.
- Why are existing third-level '.sg' domain name registrants given the priority of registering second-level ‘.sg’ domain name?
Existing registrants of 3rd level names have been using the names which may be familiar to their customers or foreign associates. To avoid possible confusion that can arise from others registering the same names at the 2nd level and to minimize the potential dispute cases between the parties registering the same name at the 2 levels, there is a need to let existing 3rd level name registrant decide first if they would also like to register the same name at the 2nd level.
- Do I pay SGNIC for registering a second-level ‘.sg’ domain name?
No, SGNIC will not be charging the registrants directly for the registration. You will have to pay SingNet for the registration.
