  1. What is International Roaming?
  2. International Roaming lets you use your SingTel Mobile number to make and receive international calls in countries where we have a roaming agreement with the network operator(s). SingTel Mobile AutoRoam service re-routes your calls using SingTel IDD 001 to your mobile phone wherever you are. A premium-grade international direct dial service, SingTel IDD 001 ensures that you continue to receive quality international calls while roaming - with instant connection, reliability and perfect clarity.

  4. SingTel AutoRoam allows you to stay contactable with your business partners, friends and loved ones on the same mobile number as if you are in Singapore.

  8. A monthly subscription charge of $10.70 (including GST) will be reflected in your SingTel bill.

Using AutoRoam

  1. Is there a time limit for roaming overseas?
  2. As long as you have an active SingTel Mobile number, you can roam.

  3. How do I select a network upon arrival at my roaming destination?
    • Automatic selection: Your mobile phone automatically searches and connects you to the foreign network having the strongest signal. Once connection is successful, your handset will display the overseas operator network name or code.
    • Manual selection: Set your mobile phone to manual mode and it will display the available foreign networks. Please refer to the user guide of your mobile phone on how to carry out manual selection. Alternatively, call our 24-hour Customer Service Hotline at 1688 for assistance.

  5. I get a signal and a display of the overseas operator network on my handset but am unable to make or receive any calls.
    • Please check the Menu Call Barring of your handset.
    • Move to another location and try manual network selection.

  6. Why does my network selection keep changing?
  7. If SingTel Mobile has agreements with more than one overseas network operator in that destination, you may find that your mobile phone will automatically switch to other available overseas networks when the reception from one network is weak.

  8. How do I make calls while roaming?
    • To call Singapore, dial:
      • Overseas International Access Code or <+> sign (if applicable)
      • Singapore Country Code <65>
      • Singapore Phone Number 001 65 61234567 or +65 61234567
    • To call overseas (other than Singapore), e.g. calling Australia while roaming in Thailand, dial:
      • Overseas International Access Code or <+> sign (if applicable)
      • Overseas Country Code
      • Overseas Area Code (if any)
      • Overseas Phone Number To Sydney, Australia: 001 61 2 1234567 or +61 2 1234567
    • To call a local number in the roaming country, dial:
      • Local Area Code (if any)
      • Local Phone Number in the Roaming Country (eg. Roaming in Australia on Optus network: 02 91234567)

  9. How do I retrieve my VoiceMail when overseas?
    • Using your mobile phone
      • Dial +65 9630 1389 and wait for the VoiceMail prompt.
      • Enter your 4-digit password.
    • Using a phone other than your mobile phone
      • Dial +65 9630 1389 and wait for the VoiceMail prompt.
      • Enter your 4-digit password, followed by (#).
      • Enter your mailbox number (i.e. your mobile number), followed by (#).
      • Note that this is an international call.


  10. I am a Caller ID subscriber. Can I see the number of my caller on my mobile phone screen?
  11. You can only see the incoming call number provided the overseas network supports Caller ID.

  12. Will I be able to receive SMSes while roaming?
  13. You will receive SMSes from Singapore or overseas subscribers while roaming, provided the overseas operator network that you are roaming to supports Mobile Terminating (Incoming) Short Messaging.

    You may however, be charged for the SMSes received, depending on the overseas operator. Please call our 24-hour Customer Service Hotline at 1688 or get the latest list of international roaming destinations and charges.

  14. Will I be able to send SMSes while roaming?
  15. Yes, but only if you are roaming in countries where Mobile Originating (Outgoing) Short Messaging is supported by the overseas operator network.

    Each SMS will be charged at the prevailing roaming SMS rates levied by the respective overseas operators in the roaming destination. In addition, you will be charged the prevailing SingTel Mobile local SMS rates (5.35 cents per message) if you have exceeded the free SMS bundle of your mobile price plan.

    Please call our 24-Hour Customer Service Hotline at 1688 or refer to the latest list of international roaming destinations and SMS charges. For sending of global SMS, a charge of 15 cents per message (for postpaid customers) plus any roaming charges levied by the overseas operators will apply.

  16. How do I send SMSes to overseas subscribers while roaming?
  17. Use the (+) sign along with the Country Code, Area Code and Phone Number.

    *Note that phone numbers without the (+) sign will not be sent successfully.

  18. Can overseas subscribers reply to my SMSes while I’m roaming?
  19. Yes, provided his/her home operator network supports this feature.

  20. I have been told that I may not be able to use my mobile phone in some countries. Is it true?
  21. Yes. Singapore mobile networks operate on 900mHz and 1800mHz bands. Your mobile phone can only function in roaming countries operating on the same bands.

  22. What should I do if my mobile phone or SIM card is lost/stolen while roaming?
  23. Please call our 24-hour Hotline at +65 67380123 immediately to temporarily deactivate your SIM card and prevent misuse.
