Getting Started

Get yourself ready by having the latest iTunes version, backing up your data and understanding the new MicroSIM.

  1. How do I check my upgrade eligibility and price plan?
    You can log in to SingTel My Account with your ONEPass ID and password. At the Account Summary landing page, click on "View more" of the selected mobile number to see your handset upgrade eligibility date.
    You can also dial *1626 from your phone and receive a text message with a menu. Just follow the steps to get information about your upgrade eligibility and price plan.


  2. How do I transfer my contacts from my current phone (non-iPhone) to my new iPhone 4?
    You may use a SIM card adaptor to transfer the contacts from your current phone (non-iPhone) to your new iPhone 4.
    Do note that copying contacts from your standard SIM card is not possible with the new iPhone 4 due to it using a different SIM size.


  3. How do I transfer my contacts, information from my current iPhone to my new iPhone 4?
    Simply follow the below steps:

    1. Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes 9.2 and iOS 4.
    2. Connect your current iPhone to iTunes and sync it. Verify that your original iPhone is backed up.
    3. Connect your new iPhone to iTunes (on the same computer you used to back up your current iPhone).
    4. iTunes will ask you if you want to restore from a backup or set up your new iPhone as a new phone. When prompted, select the backup of your current iPhone. If iTunes
        does not prompt you to select a backup to restore when you connect your new iPhone, use iTunes to restore iOS 4 on your new iPhone and try this step again.
        Note: During the process of restoring your old backup to a new iPhone, you may see the iTunes progress bar pause. If this occurs, please allow for additional time for the
        upgrade to complete.
    5. After iTunes finishes restoring the backup you selected to your new iPhone, the iPhone will restart.
    6. When your new iPhone appears again in the iTunes window, select it.
    7. Click the tabs (Music, Photos, and so on) and verify or change the items you want to sync.
    8. Click Apply to sync your new iPhone with iTunes.
    9. Verify that your saved SMS messages, email accounts, passwords, photos, notes, and other personal settings are present on your new iPhone. Note that you will be
        required to enter your email account and voicemail passwords again. If you do not remember your voicemail password, you can reset it.
        Note: If the saved SMS messages, email accounts, photos, notes, or other personal settings are not present on your new iPhone, then restore-from-backup may not have
        been successful. In that case, verify your current iPhone is properly backed up (see step 3), then use iTunes to restore iOS 4 on your new iPhone and continue following
        these instructions at step 4.


  4. I already have an iPhone 4.  How can I get 3G MicroSIM and get started?
    You can sign up our 3G SuperSIM plans on MicroSIM at one of our 11 hello! Stores.  

    To activate your iPhone 4:
    Insert your MicroSIM then connect to iTunes using the cable provided - it plugs into a USB socket on your computer.  Your iPhone 4 should be recognized automatically by the software.  Then just follow the on-screen instructions.

    To set up your iPhone:
    1. Go to Settings > General > Network
    2. Select Cellular Data Network
    3. Set APN Settings to e-ideas


  5. Understand that FaceTime feature on iPhone 4 requires a WiFi connection for both caller and recipient?  How do I set up Wi-Fi?
    With FaceTime*, you can have face-to-face video calls with friends and family - iPhone 4 to iPhone 4 over Wi-Fi.

    SETTING UP WI-FI

    SingTel Wireless@SG
    SingTel's Wireless @ SG Connect configures your iPhone to automatically and securely connect to the Wireless@SG network each time you are in a Wireless@SG hotspot. With Wireless@SG Connect, you will also find a range of interactive applications and services, including where the nearest hotspots are. When connected to the Internet, you can select the "Update" button to download the latest list of hotspots.


    To join Wireless@SG:
    1.Tap on App Store > Select 'SingTel Wireless@SG Connect' > tap 'Install'
    2. After launching the App, tap 'Next' to proceed with installation
    3. Key in your account details:
    4. Operator: SingTel
    5. Domain: SingTel Mobile
    6. Username: Enter 'Mobile Number', followed by@stm, e.g.91234567@stm
    7. Password: Your password is your IDEAS password. You can retrieve this by sending *9434
        (*Wi-Fi) and we will SMS you right back.
    8. Tap 'Done' to download


 

To turn on Wi-Fi from the Home screen, choose Settings > Wi-Fi > Slide switch to ON.  Wait a moment as iPhone detects networks in range, then select a network.  If necessary, enter a password and tap 'Join'.

  1. How much is the iPhone 4 and when will it be launched?

  2. Can I use my current SIM from my other phone in my new iPhone 4?
    No, iPhone 4 uses a MicroSIM while most other devices including iPhone 3G or 3GS use a standard SIM. The standard SIMs are too large to fit into the iPhone 4.


  3. What is MicroSIM?
    MicroSIM is a smaller version of a standard SIM but works exactly the same. MicroSIMs will be issued with all new iPhone 4 purchases from SingTel.


  4. Will the iPhone 4 replace the sale of iPhone 3GS?
    No, SingTel will still be offering the iPhone 3GS. You can get information here.


  5. I have registered my interest for iPhone 4 via your website. Does this mean that I will be guaranteed stock when SingTel launches iPhone 4?
    By registering your interest, we will keep you posted on new offers and info relating to the launch of iPhone 4 with SingTel. This is not a confirmation of purchase.


  6. Am I committing to a purchase of the iPhone 4 with SingTel if I have registered my interest online?

  7. I have registered my interest. With the current stock out situation for iPhone 4 in other countries, will I be given priority when SingTel launches iPhone 4?

  8. Can customers buy only the iPhone 4 plans? Will the subscription rates be cheaper than the plans that come with a phone? After all, i don't need SingTel to subsidise the phone for me.
    Yes, if you currently have an iPhone 4, you can sign up our 3G SuperSIM plans on MicroSIM at one of our 11 hello! stores. You can enjoy double the SMS and Talktime. On top of this, these plans come with 12GB local data bundle.


  9. If I have already bought an iPhone 4 from US or UK, can it be used locally in S'pore?
    Yes. Before that, customers would need to check if the iPhone is locked to the original carrier (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1937) and work towards getting it unlocked..


  10. Will i get an iPhone 4 Bumper if i purchase iPhone 4 from SingTel?
    Yes. Simply follow these steps:

    1. Download the iPhone 4 Case Program app from the App Store.
    2. Launch the app on your iPhone 4 and sign in using your iTunes Store account or Apple ID.
    3. Select your Bumper.


  11. Can I request for 3G MicroSIM cards for Multi-SIM service?
    Yes.  You can only apply for one (1) MicroSIM card on Multi-SIM service.  Pls click here for the charges.


  12. Can I change my appointment slot for the launch event?
    We regret that appointment slots cannot be changed once the request has been submitted. Please go down to our iPhone 4 launch event at your allocated timeslot to purchase your iPhone 4. Thank you for your understanding.


  13. How many sets of iPhone 4 can I buy at the launch event?
    You can buy a maximum of 2 sets of iPhone 4 at the launch event.


  14. What documents do I need to bring along to purchase my iPhone 4 at the launch event?
    Please bring along your NRIC and a print-out of your appointment booking confirmation to the launch event, at your allocated timeslot.


  15. Can I transfer my appointment slot and iPhone 4 selection(s) to someone else?
    We regret that the allocation of appointment slot and iPhone 4 selection(s) will not be transferrable.


  16. Can I change the model of the iPhone 4 selected?
    We regret that the model of the iPhone 4 selected cannot be changed once the request has been submitted.


  17. What are the colours of the iPhone 4 available?
    iPhone 4 is available in black and white. However, only the black iPhone 4 will be available for sale at the launch event.


  18. When will the white iPhone 4 be available?
    Thank you for your interest. Details on the availability of the white iPhone 4 will be released once we have further information. Please refer to our iPhone Bulletin Board for the latest updates.


  19. Can I purchase the iPhone 4 at the Recommended Retail Price (RRP) without any mobile contract?
    No, all iPhone 4 purchases from SingTel will be subject to a 2-year contract on an eligible mobile price plan.


  20. I am not eligible to re-contract currently. Can you make an exception for me to purchase the iPhone 4 with SingTel on my current mobile line?
    We regret that you can only purchase the iPhone 4 on your current mobile when you are eligible to re-contract. However, you may wish to consider signing up for a new mobile line to purchase the iPhone 4 with SingTel (subject to a maximum of 4 mobile lines per customer). Other terms and conditions may apply.


  21. Understand that Apple has a 30-day Refund Policy.  How can I go about getting the refund?

Checking of recontract eligibility can be done via the following modes:

    - Reply with option ‘4’ to check your handset upgrade eligibility.
    - A reply via SMS will be sent to your mobile phone shortly.

    Note:
    Not available for Corporate Individual Scheme (CIS) and Small Medium Enterprise (SME) customers.



  2. SingTel My Account
    - Log in to SingTel My Account with your ONEPass ID and password.
    - At the Account Summary landing page, click on “View more” of the selected mobile number to see your handset upgrade eligibility date.
