Notes:

  • Roaming country is the country you are in when you make/receive a call or send an SMS.
  • Call charges are on a per-minute basis.
  • There is a $0.35 call set-up charge for each successful call made in Malaysia. For other countries, call set-up charge is $0.50 for each successful call made.
  • Charges stated are inclusive of GST.
  • SingTel reserves all rights to amend Terms & Conditions without prior notice.

Roaming Guide

Before Leaving Singapore

Make sure you have at least $8.00 on your hi!Card. This is the minimum balance required to use Prepaid Roaming.

There are two ways you can check your hi!Card balance:

  1. Call *1344 and select Option 2 OR
  2. Call 9676 7777 (toll-free) and press "1"

To download instructions on how to make an outgoing call, check your remaining balance and top up your hi!Card while you are overseas, call *1344 and select Option 3.

Making Calls

Calling Singapore:

  • Call
  • E.g. to call telephone number 61234567 in Singapore, call *131*6561234567#
  • If the number has been successfully sent, your phone will display the message: “Thank you. Please wait while we connect your call.”
  • Answer the call and you will be automatically connected to the party you are calling. (Note: Charging begins once the called party picks up the call.)
  • If the party you are calling is unavailable, a message will be sent to you. You won't be billed for this call.
  • A minimum call credit of $8.00 on your hi!Card is required to make outgoing calls while roaming.

Calling other countries:

  • Call 
  • E.g. to call telephone number 1234567 in Hong Kong, call *131*8521234567#

To re-dial your last called number:

  • Call *131*#

For prepaid roaming menu and to re-dial any of your last five called numbers:

  • Call *131*0#
  • Your phone will display a Prepaid Roaming Menu

  • Select Answer/Reply/Edit and reply with your option, e.g. “1”. (Please note that different mobile phones may have different descriptions.)

Using the prepaid roaming menu options:

  1. Make a call now
    • If you select this option, you will be prompted to enter the destination number in this format:
  2. Call last dialled
    • If you select this option, your phone will automatically re-dial the last dialled Prepaid Roaming number
  3. List last 5 dialled
    • If you select this option, your phone will list the last 5 dialled Prepaid Roaming numbers and prompt you to choose one for dialling
  4. Check rates
    • If you select this option, you will receive an SMS with the call and SMS rates for the country where you are roaming

    • Sample SMS:

      Note: The Prepaid Roaming Menu service is dependent on overseas operators.

      You will be charged only upon successful call connection. There are no additional charges for using the re-dial function (*131*#) or Prepaid Roaming Menu (*131*0#) .

Sending SMS

To send an SMS to someone in Singapore:

  • Go to “Compose message”
  • Write your message
  • Press “Send”
  • Key <tel. no.> (e.g. 91234567)
  • Press “OK”

To send a global SMS to someone overseas who subscribes to an overseas operator:

  • Go to “Compose message”
  • Write your message
  • Press “Send”
  • Key (e.g. +852 12345678); message without the “+” sign will not be sent successfully
  • Press “OK”

Call Credit Announcements

Every time you complete a successful call, a message will be sent to you informing you of your call credit balance and its expiry date.

Topping up while Overseas

Via Top-Up card:

  • Purchase a Top-up Card before leaving Singapore
  • When overseas, call
  • Upon successful completion, you will receive a message that says: “Top up value: $X, New balance: $X, Expiry date dd/mm/yy”
  • This service is not chargeable
  • Each time your hi!Card is topped up, the expiry date of the card is extended (by 180 days from the top-up date for a $20 or $50 top-up, or by 90 days for a $10 top-up)

Via Roaming Virtual Top-Up:

  • This service lets you send a FREE pre-set SMS asking your friend or family member in Singapore to top up your hi!Card on your behalf when you are roaming overseas

Using Roaming Virtual Top-Up while Overseas

Call

Example: If you are sending a Roaming Virtual Top-Up SMS to mobile number 91111111, you should call *134*6591111111#

The recipient will then receive the following message:

“Hi, I am overseas now & my hi!Card balance is low. Please help me top up $15 to my hi!Card 91234567 by calling 1900-9141488 on your home line. Thank you.”

Upon successful top-up, you will receive the following message:

“Your balance has been topped up. New balance $X, Expiry date dd/mm/yy. Thank you.”

Note:

  1. You can use this service to top up your hi!Card only when you are roaming overseas.
  2. You can send a Roaming Virtual Top-Up SMS to any SingTel Mobile, SingTel Fixed Line SMS, M1 or StarHub Mobile customer.
  3. Your friend or family member can choose to top up your hi!Card via:
    • SingTel Retail Shops
    • SingTel Exclusive Retailers
    • Appointed Authorised Mobile Retailers
    • 7-Eleven Outlets
    • Cheers Outlets
    • Singapore Post
    • Sheng Siong Supermarkets
    • Shop N Save
    • RHB Bank Currency Exchange Counters, Singapore Changi Airport
    • Caltex
    • SPC
  4. You will not be charged for this service.
  5. You can send a maximum of 3 Roaming Virtual Top-Up requests per day.
  6. Each time your hi!Card is topped up, the expiry date of the card is extended (by 180 days from the top-up date for a $20 or $50 top-up, or by 90 days for a $10 top-up)

Balance Enquiry

To check your balance and latest roaming charges while roaming overseas:

Call *100# 

Upon successful completion, you will receive the message:

“Remaining balance $X, Expiry date dd/mm/yy.”
