  3. What type of encryption does BlackBerry® use?
  4. BlackBerry® uses the Triple Data Encryption Standard (DES) / Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), an advanced encryption standard which allows data to remain encrypted at all points between BlackBerry® handheld and the BlackBerry® Enterprise Server.

  5. Do I have to purchase another SIM to use this service?
  6. No. You may subscribe for BlackBerry® service as a value-added service to your existing SIM card.

BlackBerry® handheld

  1. How do I select the preferred overseas network manually on my BlackBerry® wireless handheld whilst roaming?

    • Open the Options application and select Network.
    • Select Scan for Networks and a list of available networks appears.
    • Select a network and a menu appears.
    • Click Select Network.
  2. Can I use any other applications on my handheld while I am making a phone call?
  3. You can still use the other handheld applications but you will not be able to send or receive your emails or browse webpages.

  4. Will I be able to have my handheld software upgraded by any other service providers?
  5. No. The software contains the network identifier which is not applicable to non-subscribers of that particular service provider. You should approach your own service provider for the upgrade.

  6. Where can I find the personal identification number (PIN) for my handheld?
  7. You can find your PIN from the following locations on your handheld:

    • On the Home screen, go to Options > Status
    • On the sticker at the back of the handheld
    • Under the battery cover

  2. Yes. This service is supported by SingTel's GPRS network which provides coverage in more than 100 destinations worldwide.

  3. Do I have to register for auto roaming to use the service to access my emails while overseas?
  4. Yes. You will be required to subscribe for Auto Roam before you leave the country.

  5. Will I be charged for using my BlackBerry® to access emails while roaming overseas?
  6. Yes. Roaming data charges apply and the rates are subject to the destination and network that you roam to. For information on the charges, please visit www.singtel.ideas.com.sg.

  7. Can I use my BlackBerry® to access emails when I roam to Japan and Korea?
  8. Yes. BlackBerry® 3G devices are supported in Japan and Korea.

  9. How do I sign up for BlackBerry® Enterprise Solution?
  10. For service subscription, please call 1626 or visit SingTel Hello Orchard or Comcentre today. Corporate customers should contact your SingTel Account Manager to sign up.

  11. Will I be charged for Internet surfing?
  12. If you surf the Internet through the BlackBerry® Browser, data usage will be deducted from the BlackBerry® bundle according to the BlackBerry® plan subscription. GPRS charges will be applicable if you access the Internet through other Access Points e.g. Internet Browser. For GPRS charges, please refer to the T&C for excess data charges.

  13. Can I upgrade my current SIM to a SIM1000 and use it with my BlackBerry®?
  14. Yes, but the maximum number of contacts you can store will remain 250.

  15. Can I change my current SIM to a 3G TwinCard and use it with my BlackBerry®?
  16. Yes, but only one device will be active at a time.

  17. If I have a Multi-SIM, which SIM card will have the BlackBerry® Service enabled?
  18. You should use the SIM Card with the lowest IMSI for your BlackBerry® device.
