About BlackBerry

  1. What is BlackBerry Internet Service?

BlackBerry Internet Service is designed to allow you to set up multiple work and personal email accounts to work with your BlackBerry Wireless Handheld, such as MSN, Hotmail or POP3/Internet Service Provider (ISP) email.

  2. How is this different from BlackBerry Enterprise Solution?

BlackBerry Enterprise Service requires setup and maintenance of a BlackBerry Enterprise Server to manage the link between BlackBerry Wireless Handheld, email and other enterprise applications. BlackBerry Internet Service, on the other hand, allows users to access their emails after a simple setup over the Internet.

  3. Can the same BlackBerry handheld be used for both BlackBerry Enterprise Service and BlackBerry Internet Service?

Yes. The only difference will be the setup and configuration of the handheld to have your emails redirected to your BlackBerry handheld.

  4. What types of email accounts can be used with BlackBerry Internet Service?

    BlackBerry Internet Service supports:

    • POP3-enabled
    • ISP accounts such as SingNet
    • Hotmail
    • IMAP
  5. Can I get a new email address for BlackBerry Internet Service?

Yes. You will be able to customise an email address such as username@singtel.ap.blackberry.net.

  6. How much storage space is available for my customised BlackBerry Internet Email address?

If you have upgraded to BIS v2.0, the new email management allows a 30 days' auto-aging feature and your BlackBerry mailbox never gets full.

  7. How do I set up my email accounts to redirect my emails to the BlackBerry Wireless Handheld?

Please refer to the setup guide for instructions on directing emails to your BlackBerry Wireless handheld and managing your email accounts.

  8. How can I begin using Wireless Internet Service?

Simply click here to download the application.

  9. Will I be charged for using Wireless Internet Service?

The data usage for accessing this service will be considered part of your BlackBerry monthly bundled data.

Please click here for details on rates. The local data usage does not include internet APN.

  10. Why can’t I read or reply to Chinese emails from my BlackBerry?

Please check your BlackBerry handheld version. Only BlackBerry software v4.0 and above supports Chinese characters.

You can update your handheld software version by selecting your handheld model here.

  11. I have configured my Yahoo! Email account to be pushed to my BlackBerry handheld, will the emails be deleted on my Yahoo! account if i delete from my BlackBerry handheld?

You have the option to delete from your handheld only or from both the handheld and Yahoo! account.

  12. If I delete my emails on my BlackBerry handheld, will these emails be deleted from my BlackBerry mailbox?

    Yes.
